What does a trip to Bali cost in 2027?

What do two weeks in Bali cost in 2027? Flights, visa, places to stay, transport and food worked out for two people, from budget to upmarket.

Bali has a reputation for being cheap, and food and transport still are. But the flight is long, there's a visa and a tourist levy on top, and a good place to stay with a pool costs more than you'd think. Below we work out two weeks in Bali for two people, in three versions.

Fixed costs

  • Flight. There's no direct flight from Amsterdam to Denpasar; you change in Singapore, Doha or Dubai, for example. Count on about €800 to €1,300 per person for an economy return, depending on the season and how early you book.
  • Visa. A visa on arrival or an e-VOA bought in advance costs IDR 500,000, about €25 per person. There are plans to raise this.
  • Tourist levy. IDR 150,000 per person, about €7.50, paid in advance through Love Bali.
  • Travel insurance. An annual policy with worldwide cover costs a few tens of euros a year extra.

What it costs on the ground

BudgetComfortableUpmarket
Place to stay per nighthomestay, about €35small hotel with a pool, about €70villa or boutique hotel, about €150
Transport5 days with a driver, 6 days by scooter9 days with a driver12 days with a driver

Activities and entrance feesabout €150about €300about €500
Total on the ground, two weeks for twoabout €1,250about €2,300about €4,200

These totals cover the visa and the levy, but not the flights. With flights, add €1,600 to €2,600 for two people.

Where you can save

  • Travel outside July and August. In May, June and September it's dry and quieter, and places to stay are cheaper.
  • Eat in warungs. A nasi campur costs €2 to €3 and often tastes better than in a tourist restaurant.
  • A driver only on travel days. On days when you stay in one place, you walk, cycle or take a scooter (with the right licences).
  • Stay longer in fewer places. Every move costs a drive and half a day.

Where you'd better not save: your travel insurance, a reliable driver and a helmet if you do get on a scooter.

And what does a personal trip plan cost?

If you have us design your trip, you pay us €250 to €500, depending on how much you hand over. You pay the rest directly to Dek Leonk and the places you stay. See Personal trip plan for what suits you.
